A popular family attraction, the iconic Blue Mountains Botanic Gardens is now home to four colorful Bigbelly Solar Compacting Waste Stations. The Bigbellys have been installed with the aim of creating a more efficient and sustainable waste management system.
The aptly named Bigbelly not only compacts and holds 5 times more waste than a standard wheelie bin, it then sends the user a text or email to let them know it is ready for collection. Before Bigbelly installation, The Botanic Gardens were collecting their bins an average of 28 times a month, based on current data they are only making an average of 1.6 collections a month. This equates to a collection reduction of 94%! We expect this figure to further decrease with time meaning huge savings for The Botanic Gardens in terms of labour and operational costs.
We look forward to our continued partnership with The Blue Mountains Botanic Gardens, ensuring that they continue to benefit from an optimised smart waste management system for many years to come.
